Volker Strifler (raised in Heidelberg, Germany) is a spot-on blues rock guitarist with a lifetime of road-earned craftsmanship. As a front man, he has it all – burning, disciplined solos, controlled but expressive vocals, and tunes built to carry any audience to pure musical joy.
Probably best known as the OTHER guitarist in Robben Ford’s band, he has recorded and/or toured with Robben, Chris Cain and the Ford Blues Band, many other top modern blues artists, and has shared the stage with BB King, Elvin Bishop, and Lowell Fulson. Volker’s style is a mix of modern Blues rock, soulful/chunky back beats reminiscent of mid 50’s R&B ballads, country blues roots, and jazz. His playing calls to mind the commanding talents of Peter Green and Eric Clapton, and the fluid musicality of Wes Montgomery and Ry Cooder. Combined with Strifler’s laid back, husky vocals the end result is music performed with deep conviction and amazing originality. |
