Introducing Jonathan Arthur
“He reaches inside and then weaves a tapestry of his life with music... Jonathan Arthur seems to disappear into to the song, and the song plays him.”
–Lotus Guide
“Front man and multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Arthur’s beard is the first thing you’ll notice. Then you’ll hear the boogie-woogie blues that’ll make you wanna boogie oogie oogie on the dance floor. Then you’ll marvel at the beard again. Rinse. Repeat.”

This son of a preacher sang before he could talk. In his youth he harmonized with his brothers and sisters and in the church choir before teaching himself to play flute, guitar and sax for rock bands.
When he discovered a passion for reggae, he journeyed to Jamaica and befriended the legendary Justin Hinds – a national treasure following the loss of the honorable Bob Marley. Over the next decade, Jonathan performed throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe with Justin Hinds and the Dominoes and became a part of Jamaican musical history.

Jonathan is a renowned basket-making marvel too, with his Native American-inspired works featured in Albuquerque Museum (NM), Craft & Folk Art Museum (Los Angeles, CA), Museum of Modern Art (Washington, DC), as well as in many private collections in the U.S., including the personal residence of Vice President Walter Mondale. He received a Craftsman's Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Building on the recent release of his solo CD, All Over The Map, this episode of Plugged In & Turned On In Paradise captures Jonathan’s talents in full bloom.
