Who We ArePlugged In & Turned On in Paradise (and our production for the Public Broadcasting System, Paradise Music Hour) is our new hour-long, music-based TV series highlighting the amazing musical talents that are the hidden gems of the West Coast.
The series has been filmed in and around a variety of interesting venues in Paradise, California. Locations include: Clay-Ville (the Paradise recording studio owned by musician/engineer and producer Clay Reid), Norton Buffalo Hall, Paradise Performing Arts Center (PPAC), Chapelle de L'Artiste, Museum of Northern California Art (MONCA, in Chico, CA), and elsewhere. Much of Paradise was destroyed in the Camp Fire of November 8, 2018. Clay-Ville and PPAC survived; Norton Buffalo Hall and Chapelle de L'Artiste were turned to ash. But Paradise is strong. Both of these treasured venues are in the process of building anew, and the community of musicians and fans in Paradise (and the world over) are contributing to make it happen. PITOIP/PMH celebrates this spirit of resilience by showcasing the extraordinary talents that have graced our community with their performances during production of our first season. Joining Clay on the production team are friends Brian Peterson (who produces some of the most beautiful video productions we’ve seen, including television commercials for numerous businesses and several California State Agencies, including PG&E, Cal-Fire, and others). Fred Hayden, executive in marketing and product development at Apple, Johnson & Johnson, FCB and several leading advertising firms and a veteran Silicon Valley consultant heads up the marketing efforts. We are also fortunate to have as friend and advisor for our production Scott Ross, an American digital media executive with a career spanning three decades. Scott began as President of One Pass Video in the early 80’s, producing almost all of MTV’s early music videos. He then led Lucasfilm’s Industrial Light and Magic for George Lucas through the 90’s, and under his direction ILM won five Academy Awards for Best Visual Effects. In 1993, with partners James Cameron and Stan Winston, Scott co-founded Digital Domain – one of the largest digital production studios in the motion picture and advertising industries. Under Scott’s leadership Digital Domain has won both Academy Awards and dozens of Clio Awards. Scott served as the executive producer for the company’s feature film, “Second Hand Lions,” which achieved both box office and critical success. Nashville producer and talent agent Marty Marmor will help with talent wrangling and promotions, and our house band of tremendous local and Bay Area musicians will bring their magic to support our featured artists. Our music director Terry Smith, is charged with harnessing the very best of these “Clay-Ville” musicians and illuminating our featured artist’s subtle and hidden talents as well as their very apparent ones. The debut TV episode features Laurence Juber, Jenna Mammina and Rolf Sturm. This musical mash-up was the obvious first choice because of their superb musicianship and it doesn’t hurt that they are telegenic, smart and charming, as well as all natural storytellers who are sure to fascinate and captivate our audience. We are thrilled to present a season packed full of spectacular artists and musicians, including: Laurence Juber: Sir Paul McCartney's / Wings lead guitarist and an acoustic guitar Tour-de-force... Martin Gerschwitz: The keyboard wizard of Animals and Iron Butterfly fame and an incredible entertainer / performer. Rock Hendrix: The #1 jazz sax player with 9 consecutive #1 Billboard jazz hits in the last 5 years with Paul Hardcastle's top performing CD on the jazz charts... Danny Hull: A legendary member of the Doobie Brothers and playing with Michael Jackson, Cold Blood, Journey, Eddie Money, Michael Bolton's band, and many others, this musical phenomenon will thrill you with his mastery of multiple instruments and his smooth voice and magnetic personality... We hope you’ll join us on our adventure of presenting the many extraordinary musical talents hiding among the golden hills and the rest of our beautiful California and West Coast. |
